I just looked down for a second...

...and it is October. When did that happen?

Here is a recap of the last month:

Daisy's first day of preschool at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. I love that we can walk/scooter. It's the first time I've ever been able to walk one of my kids to school and I love it.
This is the smile she was practicing for the first day. She kept asking me how it looked and I was almost honest.
Kelly installed a new garage door motor. It looks great and works about 80 percent of the time.
The girls love anything bouncy. I think Lucy looks so grown up in this picture.
Lately, the three youngest have been taking the camera. Thank heaven for digital photography; if all the shots were on film, we'd be having different conversations at our house.

I remember the first time I took a picture. I was eight and Steve was six. He took a perfect shot of me, totally incriminating me. I took one of him and cut his head off. Sweet anonymity, sort of.

Pumpkin picking. There are pumpkin farms all around, but we are city folk at heart and went to the local grocery store's "pumpkin-palooza." This was the best of about four shots; Anna is making a face in every one. Sound familiar, Kath?
My baby is growing up. Not out, but up. We are currently measuring her weight in hundredths of a percent on the growth chart.
It has been an unusually warm last few weeks. After a freezing September, we deserve it. And we're spending as much time outside as we can before we descend into the sub-zero depths of winter.
The Fox River that runs behind our house. From this angle, it's hard to see the pollutants. Growing up in the west, we consider water a precious resource. Here, it was used as a dumping ground for everything from chemical waste from paper factories to old cars. Such a difference.

I am currently in the middle of my annual quest to eat my weight in Honeycrisp apples. That's why there isn't a picture of me. They are my favorite part of fall, especially since we only get to watch two Utah football games all season. College football is my favorite sport to watch, and, in spite of graduate school, the Utes are our team. But Honeycrisps are a nice consolation.

Really, I think you should just move back (if only it were that easy). We've got the Utes, a winter that doesn't make you want to shoot yourself and us! The drawback would be that your kids grow up saying moun'in (instead of mountain).

Honeycrisps are sure tasty! Your girls are just so cute, and the pictures show their personalities so much. What a fun family!

Man, I miss a good apple. In Utah they think they have good apples but it's because they have never tasted up raised up in the North. I think the cold makes them taste better. Your girls are darling and I love seeing your pictures.
