We are on fun overload this week. First a trip to Chicago, then Labor Day, and now everyone's First Day. I have said before that my two favorite days of summer are the last day of school and the first day of school. This year was no exception.
Everything ran very smoothly this morning and we left right on schedule. Since the girls are at a charter school, there is no bus and we drive them every morning. This is kind of a pain, but I LOVE the time that we get in the car to talk about their days and process things that happened.

It feels so strange to be sending Daisy with Lizzie and Anna. She has waited so long to go to school with them.

This is the only picture I could get of Lizzie. Fifth graders do NOT want their totally uncool mom taking pictures of them on the playground. "Mo-om!" Seriously, though, don't they all look so big?

Two years makes a real difference. Of course, Anna and Linnea are the two smallest girls in third grade.

Daisy is lucky enough to be in school with two girls from her gymnastics class last year, of which I was the teacher. If I could hand-pick girls for her to already know, it would be these two. The girl on the left is a brand new friend, but Ella and Daisy have been playing together for a while now.

I had to take a picture of Anna's cute owl skirt. She loves it and couldn't wait to wear it on the first day.

I guilted Kelly into coming with us today; he has never done a first day of school before. He took over the camera and got this great one of Daisy at her table, ready to learn.

She sits next to Aeva, the other girl from gymnastics whom I really adore. I hope that they are great friends. In the background, notice the kid in the Packers jersey. In two days, everyone in school will be wearing Packer gear to show their pride. We have been here six years and I still can't bring myself to buy anything green and gold.

Kelly also had a first day... in a new building at work. He is now the senior brand manager for strategy and innovation on the Huggies brand. From toilet paper to diapers: we are so proud!
As I expected, Lucy and I are spending a lot of time just staring at each other wondering what to do with all this silence. At 11:30, she begged me to put her down for a nap.
Good times.

Love all of your pictures from the past three posts!! I blew up a few (you know, clicked on the pic and it opens up big) and I noticed the lower half of SEVERAL large bodies in the background. I suppose all the cheese and beer really do catch up...I'm so bad.
Congrats to Kelly. That is something to CELEBRATE!!!
I LOVE that owl skirt too! I'd be excited to wear it. :) Your girls all look so beautiful and happy to be back in school. Here's to a happy first day and a great year!
Proud of you son, and your big promotion... Love you lots and miss you even more.
Love this picture of you.
Mom
I love the pictures! I only have one thing to say. No, dear, your kids do not look "so big." They are beautiful, tiny girls! Oh, and I think you should be glad to have a husband who is such an expert at diapers and butt-wiping. That's what takes up almost half of your time as a parent of toddlers!
