Happy Birthday Daisy!

Our baby is two! Before I start writing about it, let me explain the pictures and the poor quality. This week, our camera battery ran low. When we went to charge it, we couldn't find the charger. Long story short, it was at my mom's house...thousands of miles away. Thankfully, Lizzie graciously offered to let us use her pink one for the day. Unfortunately, when I try to upload her pictures to the blog, I can't see which image is which. So here are two random pictures from her big day: When I got back from the gym on the 31st, Kelly's first words to me were, "Do we have anything to give Daisy for her birthday?" Oh, the poor third girl - what does she need? Between all the used toys and handed-down clothes, she is totally shabby chic. So I took her to Target and let her pick out a toy. She chose a Go Diego Go camera. I love that even after playing with it in the shopping cart all the way through the store, she still acted surprised when she opened it at night. Also visible in the picture are the cupcakes. Because who doesn't love a good cupcake??
One of the bravest things I have done in a long time was throwing a birthday party for Daisy. It was more of a playdate, but she didn't care. I set out bowls of her favorite foods: fruit snacks and goldfish crackers. I moved the dining room table and set up the tent. I put on her favorite Diego movie and I let the kids run everywhere (with food). In the picture are Boston, Daisy, Olivia, Anna, and Elizabeth. There were a few more kids there, but no one would hold still long enough to get a group photo. The highlight of the party was when Elizabeth walked in. She has cerebral palsy and finally, at age three, is able to take some steps. It is something of a miracle that we have all been waiting for.
So here are a few things I love about Daisy:
  1. She loves to dance. High School Musical, the Wiggles, and Go Diego Go are a few of her favorites.
  2. She sings on pitch, meaning that you can tell what song it is just by the notes. Favorites include Twinkle, Twinkle, Wheels on the Bus, Old MacDonald, and Little Birdie in the Tree.
  3. She only speaks in vowels. "Ahm, Ayah ee baayee ii aaee ooomm" means, "Mom, Anna is eating in the family room." She is also very adept at tattling.
  4. She loves to try on shoes, especially shoes that are not hers.
  5. She will eat anything, as long as it does not belong to her. She especially loves food that other kids have dropped on the floor in public places.
  6. She can hang on the bars at the gymnastics center for a long time. She tries to swing and pull herself over, but mostly she just loses her pants (because she is too tiny to fit into anything).
  7. Even though she has a wonderful soft blanket that I made for her (emphasis on I made it), she has for her favorite a baby blanket with satin trim and Winnie the Pooh Iron-ons in one corner, made by the Disney corporation, without any of the love I put into mine. She calls it "bappy."
  8. She loves to read Go, Dog, Go, the Gossie books, and anything else that will keep her out of bed.
  9. She is so picky about what she wears every day that she must choose her diapers to ensure that the picture is acceptable. I dread adolescence...
  10. Finally, she loves her sisters, "Aaa" and "Eeeee." Nothing makes us happier than to hear them all playing together and laughing. In that moment, heaven is not very far away.
