Superlatives

I tend to deal exclusively in superlatives. I don't just like something, I love it. I don't care for something, it's the worst. So apparently I live in a good place for superlatives because every year is a new one. Last year was the snowiest winter on record, and today is the coldest day Wisconsin has seen in at least 15 years. The actual temperature this morning at 6 a.m. was -15 with a wind chill of -40. We turned on the news, heard the weather, saw that school was canceled and went back to bed. Yes, they canceled school for cold. And I'll be honest, I've never been so glad to get to stay home in my life!

We've had the best day today. We cleaned up, cooked meals instead of cold cereal and sandwiches, wrote letters, made cookies, and played. Every once in a while we look outside, but the air has actually crystallized and it looks as cold as it is, so we prefer to keep the blinds closed to keep warm air in.

We started the day with a little exercise. My dad found a recording of Chicken Fat this Christmas and gave one to us, so that's what we did. I found a copy on YouTube, but have to warn you that it's such an "ear worm" (you know, those songs that get stuck in your head all day), so listen with discretion.

Go you chicken fat, go away! Go, you chicken fat, go.

Oh my goodness, that is cold! Your gas bills must be killer! Way to sieze the cold, frigid, don't go out of the house day, not that I would expect anything less from a fantastic mom like you!

Amy,
I have many a fond memory of Chicken Fat from elementary school! I'm already humming the tune - "Go you Chicken fat, go"! We're only at 0 degrees here in Kentucky! Keep warm!

We played Chicken Fat to get us up and going on our Saturday chores today. I've been singing it all day. I can't even tell you how many times I heard that as a kiddo and Josh didn't ever hear it once. I guess that's what you get for marrying them young!
