While the Cat's Away

I will preface this blog posting by letting you know that Amy and the girls are away spending time with the family in Salt Lake for the past week and the next few. I will join them in an another week and can hardly wait.

Luckily, I have a few business trip while they are gone. However, there are a few lonely days and nights that I am managing to fill up with home repairs, getting caught up on my church calling, and hopefully an occasional golf game.

However, my reason for posting was the adventure I had this morning. I willingly woke promptly at 1:45 a.m. to start my day. I met a few friends at the local WalMart parking lot (one of the only reasons I believe they should remain in existence) and together we drove to Lake Michigan to catch the big one. It is always exhilarating to watch the sun rise over water, even better when you are on a boat.

We chartered a deep lake fishing trip with Captain Roger and his boat the now famous "Toy Box."

With fourteen lines in the water by 4:30 a.m., we were ready for the lines to rip and to start reeling the huge one that has been waiting to shows its ugly face. As dawn came, the fish cooperated nicely. We even had a few that gave incredible fights and one that took over 20 minutes to reel in. By 6:00 a.m. we had six on the line and four in the box (that's true fisherman lingo for six fish that had taken the bait and four that were caught, brought into the boat and now were residing in their new home, a nice large cooler).

In the end, I think we struck it big for six hours on the lake, but you decide...

Now I can officially say "I caught a fish this big."
