Not Free, I Foy

Now that things have slowed down a bit, I can play catch-up and blog about Daisy's birthday. Our favorite thing about Daisy is the way she speaks. Kath calls it her Boston accent. It isn't quite bad enough for speech therapy, but it's hilarious. In previous posts, I have mentioned the word "hoyable" (horrible), which continues to be our favorite.

Daisy is a delight. She can give the dirtiest looks and is quite possibly the meanest of the sisters (if I had a dime for every time someone said, "Daisy hurt me," I'd be a rich mother), but she is also the sweetest and most helpful. She always wants to help make meals and specializes in orange juice in the mornings.

Daisy was very specific when it came to her birthday. She wanted to have our friends over for dinner. The menu was pizza and strawberries ("because those are my favorites, Mom"). We hung the Happy Birthday banner that Cami made for me last Christmas and continues to be one of my all-time favorite Christmas gifts.Lucy usually never lets anyone hold her, but she was perfectly content in Marci's arms. In fact, she went completely limp and THAT was photo-worthy.

Daisy also wanted a white birthday cake with sprinkles and pink frosting and a strawberry on top. I offered to make strawberry cupcakes, but the offer elicited tears and protests for store-bought. I had a friend in college who used to call these "fake cakes." I always think of that when I have to buy one.
Please notice that there was not originally a strawberry on this cake. Daisy, always resourceful, added one herself. I know. It looks like it might belong on cake wrecks.
Here is Daisy's absolute joy at opening her birthday presents on the morning of her birthday. Is it tacky that I love putting daisies in her hair?

Daisy is really into playing "creatchoys" (creatures), which is her way of saying Calico Critters. For those of you who think that we're lucky (having all girls) to not have Legos, let me reassure you that Daisy's toys have tiny parts to rival even the smallest Lego. Not as many corners, but still small. This year, she got the puppy family and Ben the beaver dentist. Isn't he cute?
And here are all of Ben's tiny tools. They are all loose pieces and I'm pretty sure that Lucy has already swallowed one of the tiny toothbrushes. Just for reference, the tray is about the size of a quarter.
Sometime I'll post about the creatures' kitchen with a mushroom the size of a pinhead and an oven mitt that won't fit on Daisy's pinky.

It took me about ten minutes to figure out what the title of this post meant, but when I finally figured it out it was totally worth it.

I feel your pain with tiny toys! At least Poly Pockets do not hurt to step on in the middle of the night! I do however vacuum them up now when left on the floor after much nagging for cleaning up!

I am so stealing the Birthday Banner project idea! LOVE that! I'm sure you'll mourn the day that Daisy stops saying "hoyable." That is awesome! Happy birthday, cute Daisy!!!
