Happy Birthday Lucy!

It's true. Our caboosey is two.

She currently weighs 21 pounds. Dressed. That puts her in the .87 percentile. I don't even want to think about where she would fall without clothes and a full diaper.

We had just started her birthday dinner when the neighborhood dog, Bubba, came by with his family. He was coming over to say goodbye. It broke our hearts to have to lose such a dog. Bubba has been one of our favorite parts about our neighborhood. He has been both Daisy's and Lucy's first word. He made sure he always stayed between the kids and the street. He only barked if adults were coming near the kids, and if a child was scared of him, he would lie down and not move until they got comfortable. I am sure that God has a special job in heaven for Bubba. After we finished crying, we resumed celebrating.

This is what Lucy does at pretty much every meal. She wiggles out of her seat and does acrobatics.
And after a healthy dinner of the most beautiful roasted vegetables to grace this table, Lucy couldn't wait to dive into her airbrushed, "but-r-creme" frosted (oh brother), grocery store cake, complete with plastic pumpkin rings. Eat your heart out, Martha.
Here's Lucy at two:

Lucy likes:
  • her binky
  • her blanket, specifically one corner with a little tag. I made her a taggie blanket that I am really proud of, but she prefers the ratty little tag on her white (WHY do they have to love the white blankets that are so hard to keep clean??) one.
  • Her sippy cup with Elmo on it.
  • Emptying. Games, cupboards, drawers, crayons, the fridge. If it holds stuff, she will empty it.
  • Gymnastics. Go figure. She sees all three sisters doing it every week, and she is certain that she can keep up. Favorites include somersaults, the balance beam, bars, and the foam pit.
  • bathtime
  • swinging
  • candy
  • climbing out of her own bed
  • and her sisters. She can't get enough of them.
Lucy dislikes:
  • Being told to eat.
  • Bedtime when she suspects that no one else is going to sleep.
  • Being denied
  • Falling
  • holding still
  • cold weather
We love you, Lucy caboosey. Happy 2!

Happy Birthday Lucy! I have to admit I'm a little happy she only weighs 21 lbs, because that's how much my Ellie weighs at 2 years. We sure do breed the light weights!
