can't...keep...up
What is a mother supposed to do with a child who has the reflexes of a cheetah, the climbing ability of a monkey, and the good sense of a squirrel? Daisy is moving faster than I ever have and she is discovering a whole new world of things that were previously out of her reach. Yesterday I french braided Anna's hair for preschool. Now, admittedly, I have to concentrate VERY hard when I am braiding, especially Anna, who is prone to sudden movement; it's a bit like braiding a cat. However, I had Sesame Street on and Daisy seemed to be captivated by Big Bird's search for Ernie. We finished the braids and I was putting ribbons on my masterpieces when I realized that Daisy was too quiet. When I found her in Lizzie's room, she was so pleased to show me that she can take off the lids to Lizzie's Crayola markers which she thought were different tubes of lipstick.
Even though I wanted to scream, I started laughing hysterically at the fact that as I was making one child beautiful, the other was "beautifying" herself. She really didn't like me laughing at her so by the time I snapped the picture, she had her scowly face. Thankfully I had the good sense to buy the Washable markers, and I am delighted to tell you that they are indeed washable. The marker came off her face. Unfortunately, while I was putting the marker back in Lizzie's room, Daisy found a box of crackers (which I need to move to a higher shelf) and dumped them out on the family room carpet. While I was cleaning up that mess, she wandered into the bathroom where she climbed up on the toilet, pulled out a few Kleenex and turned on the sink full force. I raced in just as she was tasting the soap. This is pretty much how my day goes. I wake up saying, "No, Daisy," as an automatic response. And, now that I think about it, I don't hear anything. Uh, oh...

For a nearly-two-year-old, it is really quite an impressive feat of coordiation to at least have drawn a line totally level with her lips. How would she know how wide her lips really are? She is a natural! Just think how nimble you have become! I love that little Daisy Kate!
I have so been there! Although the markers weren't used as lipstick, just food. Ben liked to bite the tips off the markers, yet he won't eat cheese...hmmm. It's good to have someone to keep you on your toes!
