I will be the first to admit that I develop irrational attachments to inanimate objects, but especially cars. My car is my everything, and this is never so obvious as when it is rendered undriveable. A few weeks ago, I had one of those viruses that causes coughing attacks, the kind where everything starts watering and you can't stop coughing. I had all the kids plus two carpool kids in the car and we were on our way home when an attack started and I rear-ended another minivan (most cars in Appleton are minivans so this was not unusual). I have never been in an accident before, at least not with another occupied car... going forward. The other mother got out and prepared to be mad at me but when she took one look at me eight months pregnant and with five kids in my car, she just felt sorry for me (plus, I was still coughing).
Our insurance totaled our car, even though it is hard to even see the damage in this picture. So the tow truck came and took it away and I cried a little. This is the car that travelled across the country three times with us, brought home two of our babies from the hospital and has seen us through five great years. And it was paid for. Rats!

This is the tow truck taking away my friend upon whom I depended almost as much as Kelly. Thank goodness for insurance, but friends, beware, if yours is like ours, they won't cover the cost of a rental minivan without extra fees. They only covered a tiny car. So we scrambled for a few weeks until we got our new car. I love it and all its features, but I think I would trade it for our old (paid-for) car.
Oh, did I mention that the day after the accident, our AIG stock totally tanked? Kelly had a stomachache for two straight days.

Oh man... I can't wait to see your new vehicle! We are in the market for a new one ourselves.
I can totally relate. You depend on your car like nothing else to get you and your kids everywhere safely. Hope you are feeling good in the last stages of your pregnancy!
