Every new year, I love to make resolutions that I know I'll keep. For example, Be a Mom. Of course I make other resolutions, too, but I like knowing that at the end of the year, I'll have something to check off. So here are a few things I resolve to do this year:
  • Run a Half Marathon. I was so happy when the podiatrist told me last Friday that my heel pain is nothing more than plantar fasciitis that I did a happy dance out of his office. I'm running again and couldn't be more thrilled. (And I'm secretly delighted that I just outsmarted spell check with the word "fasciitis." Once a nerd...,)
  • Learn to fold a fitted sheet or determine that it simply cannot be done.
  • Earn my Young Women Personal Progress. I determined to do this before I was called to be the YW President, but now it's more significant. The whole program has been redone and the Church is encouraging any woman to earn it if they want. So let's do it!
  • Learn to cook with more fresh herbs.
  • Eat a truffle. Not the chocolate kind. This may not be possible THIS year. Maybe it should be a "decade" goal.
  • Go to "Oprah." When you live close to Chicago, this should always be a goal.
  • Stick to our budget. (See below)
Ah, the budget. This should be its own post, but I'm a little pressed for time.

Kelly and I have always had a running disagreement. He thinks I spend money like it grows on trees. I remind him that I feel buyer's remorse over groceries. Hence, the budget.

He thinks it will keep me in check.

I think it will show him exactly how LITTLE I actually spend.

haHA! The game is afoot.

And I am going to win. We may be living on ramen noodles and pork and beans, but I will win.

So you are YW President, huh? Better you than me. Oh wait, it was me...glad it's your turn now. I too would like to earn my YW award. I came a couple of projects short as a teen, always regretted it. Send me an email sometime, maybe we can motivate each other.

Budget time, eh? We've done the Dave Ramsey thing for about a year and a half now. I was the one dragging my feet, but I actually thing it gives me more freedom. Now I don't feel guilty if I send $15.00 on MYSELF for a cheap pair of shoes- it's in the budget! I don't have to feel guilty over the money I spend because we've allocated for it. Embrace the budget!

I will gladly eat pork and beans. In fact, don't worry about buying the pork. I will settle for beans, and in 10 years when our home is all ours, I will purchase the pig and we can eat all the pork we want :-)

And, I will win.

Amy,

I love the resolutions. I've always wanted to try truffle as well...if you try it this year, let me know if it's worth blowing my budget to try!

Kelly,

No offense, but my money is on Amy. I would never bet against her doing anything she decides to do.

Thanks, Anna. It's good to have friends who believe in you... and in whom I have the same faith. I'd never bet against you, either.
