Following our morning on the farm, we ate a meal of fried food (chicken strips, corn dogs, french fries, and cheese curds) because it wouldn't be a real Wisconsin day without trans fats. Then we headed to the beach with our friends. When I say beach, I mean Lake Michigan. The water isn't salty, but it's big, blue, and has little waves for the kids. For us in the middle of the country, it's as good as it gets.
Anna played in the water all day, Daisy alternated between sand, water, and lying on her towel, and Lizzie played wherever she wanted. I love the beach because I don't have to tell my children No. I don't care if they dump sand over their heads or down their suits. It only takes one time eating the sand to realize that they don't want to do that anymore. They don't wander off because they have all the sand and water they want right in front of them, and there are endless activities for them. The moms lounged and visited, the dads played catch, and the kids played with each other. When we got too hot, we went in for a swim. It was seriously a perfect day.

Here's the family; please ignore the rapidly expanding belly. Only 3 more months from today... I am doing my best to avoid buying a maternity swimsuit. With only a few more weeks of summer, I think I'm going to make it.
Oh, about the girls' hats, Anna adopted the red one from Kelly and wears it all the time. Lizzie wanted a baseball-style hat, too, so I loaned her my running hat that I use on rainy days. They really liked wearing them and it kept the sun off their faces, so... win, win.

The beach looks wonderful--so glad you enjoyed it. Actually, one of my brothers who shall remain nameless did not discover that eating sand was unpleasant until he had to have a beach enema. Then it was plenty unpleasant. Glad your girls figured it out before that. XOXO
What a perfect day! And Amy, you look absolutely fabulous! And I can't believe you're 6 months along! What happy times.
