Who Wouldn't?
Kelly is in Chicago for the day and went to a nice restaurant for dinner last night. I always have a bit of a hard time when he gets to go out and I have to continue with the daily grind, so I made an executive decision. Lizzie had piano until 6 and then I had to take all three girls to a meeting at school, so we didn't have much time to eat, and I decided that we would have ice cream for dinner. We went to Dairy Queen (I know, but it's all we have here) and I gave the girls carte blanche. Lizzie got a mint Oreo Blizzard, Anna chose a brownie sundae in a waffle cone, and Daisy wanted a cup of vanilla ice cream with sprinkles (a genetic defect makes us all think that anything tastes better with sprinkles). Guess who was the only person to finish their dinner? ME, as usual. I thought for sure that an ice cream dinner would have a better result than our typical dinners at home. As we returned from our meeting, Anna asked if we could have real dinner when we got home. So, totally defeated, I made a small meal of healthy food and promised myself not to try anything crazy like ice cream for dinner again. I have to wonder if we would have had better success with cupcakes or cookies for dinner, though. Kelly goes to Canada next week...

Oooh! I want dinner with you! That sounds like a perfect dinner to me. We do this every now and again on a REALLY hot summer day. What a fun mommy you are!
Thanks. Tell that to my kids.
TAG! YOU'RE IT!
I completely support ice cream for dinner...what a great idea! I'll have to try that soon! You'll have to let me know if cupcakes for dinner is a better success.
By the way, isn't that the worst when a traveling spouse calls with a list of the gourmet food he's just had for dinner? When Dan traveled a lot, he'd call with glowing reports after eating at Ruth's Chris or Mortons or some other famous steakhouse. It was hard to rejoice in all the details of his fine food when I was home covered in baby food or choking down mac & cheese yet again. :)
You made me smile! But I wanna know what you ordered! I say go for the cupcake and cookie dinner. I think you're a great mom! I enjoy watching you interact with your girls. You are patient and kind. Cute girls. : )
