Here we go again...

This morning I woke up to snow. Actually, I didn't so much wake up as get up; Lucy has a stuffy nose and pretty much kept me up all night. But I wanted to go walking so I did what I am genetically programmed to do and followed my alarm at 5:00. I was going to go to the YMCA to run on the treadmill (some of you are shuddering at the thought, but that's what you do in the winter in Wisconsin) but when I saw that there was still snow on the branches of the trees, I changed my plan and put on my winter running gear. Usually, we have so much wind that winter running is just miserable... and sub-zero. But today was a Utah snow morning. I fully intended to walk because I'm only four weeks post-partum, but when I got outside, my genes kicked in again and I started running. I figure that if it feels good it must be okay.

In Salt Lake, my family had a route that we all knew and loved and I loved running in snow and seeing my dad's footprints already there. Now, I get to be the first one out and get to make the first footprints. I love it and usually go farther than I should. This morning, I didn't realize that it was still snowing so by the time I got home I was covered in snow. But when I consider that it was probably the only time I'll get to run outside until May, it was totally worth it. I'm still not ready for winter to start, though.

P.S. Does anyone have any ideas for helping a stuffy baby besides the bulb syringe?

Cute Amy! Look at your cute girls! They are adorable.. And your newborn is to die for! I could sit and eat her up!

Sorry she is sick! Make sure you put her mattress on an incline and use lots of saline! You don't necessarily have to squeeze her out it will run out with saline! Also humidifier works great too. Good luck and keep in touch!

My doctor gave me a sample of Xlear. It is a nasal wash with Xylitol (which helps get rid of some of the bacteria from booger noses). It helped Jonas and I highly recommend it!

I think you are clinically insane. How you get up and run, especially so soon after having a baby is crazy. Hats off to you, you're a strong woman! Sorry to hear Lucy's sick. The suggestions from the other readers are great. I would add bringing her into a small bathroom with a hot shower running so she breaths the steamy air also helps my kids. Good luck!
