Thanks for the great post about running. It totally inspired me to return to the stride you describe: landing more on my forefoot and leaning a bit more forward. This morning, I was out and feeling really good. I thought, "This is so easy, and I am going so much faste-" and right then I tripped on a crack. Because I was leaning ever so slightly forward, momentum and gravity ruled and I went right down. I was able to get my palms down, but not my knees, and one finger didn't get out of the way fast enough. No, I went right onto my stomach and my chin and then I skidded in the gravelly gutter. I'm pretty sure my feet and legs came up over my head a little. I wish I had been watching myself from across the street, but I'm so glad that no one else was there. See, Mom? There are good things about getting up at the crack of dawn. I got up, assessed myself, said one tiny "ouch" and noticed that I had started walking again. I tried to convince myself to turn around and go home (it was mile 2). I don't know why, but I kept running, leaving bloody streaks from where my finger brushed my shirt. And why, Dave, did I finish the run? I don't know; I guess I'm a runner.

You are hardcore. Call me a wimp, but blood and blisters always send me running home. I'm sorry you got hurt, I feel partially responsible.

HA HA HA! Still laughing about this one. I wish I had been there to see it too. Glad nothing worse happened. And glad you didn't skin your nose. That would be continually embarrassing.
See, the Chi running method is not just about stance, it's about focus and poise, too! :) On a more serious note, it has also saved my knees. I hope you have better luck with it next time.
