Check!

When we moved here, Kelly and I generated a little list of things we wanted to do while in the midwest, thinking that by the time we accomplished everything, it would be time to move. What with Oprah's impending retirement, we may never be able to leave now.

But we are still working on the list.

One of Kelly's big ones was to see a Cubs game at Wrigley. And I wanted to join him on that one. The deep sea fishing I was okay to miss, but I really like MLB games. Thanks to my friend Betsie, I surprised Kelly with Cubs tickets for Valentines Day. It may well have been my best, and one of my only, surprises EVER. Usually I can't keep a secret for anything, but I really got him this time.

You know how sometimes in anticipation of something cool, we make it out to be more than it is? Well, NOT THIS TIME.Wrigley Field is fantastic!
It still has a very old-fashioned feel. The seats are not at a steep angle, there is no room for advertisements, there are no electronic displays, and there is still a traditional organ, so we never had to listen to "We Will Rock You" between innings. The game was absolutely lovely!
If I had been able to find peanuts or Cracker Jack, I totally would have loved them. Actually, they did have peanuts, but at Wrigley, I wanted them served fresh-roasted, warm, in a paper bag, and I couldn't find those.

There is even guy with binoculars and a radio who keeps the score of the Cubs game as well as the scores of all the MLB games as they happen. I know that he probably has a laptop instead of binoculars and a radio, but let's not spoil it.
I think that I love baseball games because, for the most part, the fans are nice. They all stand and remove their hats for the national anthem, they don't do strange chants, and you never see "the wave." I like the quiet time between innings, and the way the vendors shout and throw bags of peanuts with the accuracy of an NFL quarterback. I like the lines of the grass and the way Kelly always knows what will happen next.

This was truly a highlight of our time in Wisconsin. Next on the list: the Mall of America. Or maybe Oprah. I'm still holding out hope.
