We are back and I'm finally able to update the blog. When we first decided to vacation in Salt Lake this summer, I wasn't sure how it would be. After all, when we lived there, it wasn't a vacation spot for us. Fortunately, my concern was completely unfounded. There is so much to do in Utah. I hope that those of you who live there appreciate how much you have. We spent a lot of time up Mt. Aire at the cabin and had the best time up there. Lizzie and Anna loved going on "adventures" and Daisy, once she got her trail legs, toodled around after them whenever she could. The cabin picture is on the Sunday the Katherine blessed my newest niece, Savannah. Dad is spraying the greenery, not Anna. It is amazing to me to be able to drive 15 minutes and escape the heat of the city.
Another highlight was our hike to Lake Mary in Brighton. It was the girls' first hike and at first they were unsure, but they loved getting a bit lost (my fault) and having to cross the stream on a fallen log and climb hand and foot up some rocks. The lake is one of my favorite spots in the world and it was really neat to be able to share it with my girls. Kelly and I have been before, but it's different showing it to them. We also took our Roper cousins and Kelly's sister Stacey with us. Abby was the best, holding Anna's hand and playing with Daisy.
Other adventures included a visit to the temple and surrounding sites, fun with our Wirthlin friends, a trip to the Gateway fountain, Red Butte Garden, daily visits to the Country Club to swim (Lizzie did a flip off the diving board...the second time she had ever been off), Jake Roper's baptism, the Bitner kids' birthday party, sleepovers at Grandma's, lunch with book club, dinner with our Fullmer friends, and I'm sure I'm missing some more, but that's a start.
Our other discovery (after the girls were asleep every night) was the BBC production, "Foyle's War." It's a mystery series set in WWII Great Britain, and it is charming and fun to watch. Check them out at the library if you have a chance.
I was so excited to run and hike, but just a week after being there, I was diagnosed with a stress fracture. No running, walking, hiking, tennis, pretty much anything I usually do, for six weeks. I'm nearly two weeks into it, and hating not being able to do what I want. The only advantage is that I stayed up very late every night and didn't have to worry about waking up early to run.
But now the party's over and it's back to real life...

Oh, that all looks like so much fun. We wish we could be there with you. Annie would just die to follow Lizzie and Anna around, I am sure they would all have the best time. I agree, there is SO much fun stuff to do in Utah that you take for granted until you can't do it every weekend. The girls look darling and Daisy is so big. I can't imagine that she is walking. We miss you all so much. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox S, C, A and R
