A guilty pleasure

So I finished reading Twilight, and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. My mom said it's like one of those fluffy dogs that, when wet, are nothing but skin and bones. I mostly agree with her, but I think that reading it is like eating those yummy little powdered donuts. They have no nutritive value and they aren't even very filling, but after you finish the box, you can't help going out and getting two more boxes. Even though I couldn't put the book down, I didn't feel any differently after I read it than I had before I started it...but yeah, I'll read the other two. I hope this isn't offensive to anyone who loves these books. I had to keep reminding myself that at least teenage girls are reading, and are reading books that are relatively clean and moral. I would way rather they read these books than those horrid travelling pants books. For those of you who are craving something mentally nutritious after all those donuts, try Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner. It's also a book about relationships, but you don't have to hear about swooning over perfect features or Edward's smell.

Crossing to Safety is probably my favorite book of all time. Yes, even more so than Charms. I guess I will need to read this series too. :)

I get so sick of hearing about Edward and his perfect body, eyes, hair, etc. I think Bella may only like Edward for the way he looks. It gets old. But I am also going to read the next two because I have to know what happens. Sick and wrong.

Thanks for the book recommendation - I'm in desperate need of a good read. I've read all 3 in the Twilight series and I'll be really interested to see what you have to say after Eclipse. I think they are fun books, but I was a little disappointed after the third.

You are the first person who has not totally raved. It is good to know there are other opinions out there! I was starting to feel like I shouldn't read it until the series was done, just so I wouldn't go crazy waiting for the next one!
