Lovin' the network

Thank you for all the great advice on helping with stuffy baby noses.  It is so nice to have a network of experienced moms that I know and love and who dole out advice in just the right amounts.
Lucy is still a little snuffy and I am remembering why moms should avoid dry clean only fabrics.  It's cotton for me!  Unless I want to accessorize with burp rags I end every day with mystery marks on my left shoulder.  In a world run by mothers, I would consider them a sign of my rank, like in the military.  Unfortunately, in the real world, they just look gross.  I tried the saline and even though she hated it, it cleared her up... for a while.  That's the problem with a stuffy nose; it always comes back.
We are sleeping a little better and I have been cleared by the doctor to start running.  Sadly, the temps have dropped here to the point where the snow doesn't melt during the day and I spent 45 minutes of my afternoon scraping ice off the driveway from the snow that fell this morning in a futile effort to prevent icy buildup that will last until at least April.  Even my neighbor, a local and lifetime resident, said as he watched me hacking ice with my snow shovel, "Why does anyone live here?"  For the next six months, this is the question that is on everyone's mind.
At least we have Christmas lights and mint M&M's to get us through December.

I laughed out loud at that last comment. I have wondered how people live in those climates too, and I love snow, but man! We have started the all winter long runny nose with Luke too, 12 days stuffy, two days clear, 12 days stuffy, and on and on.

Mint M&M's'? You should not have mentioned that. I had no idea they made such a thing. Great.

You know, Amy, that we spend the months of June through October asking that same question. My neighbor calls Phoenix the "border town to Hell." Just remember not to come visit your sister during the summer. By the way, I'm hoping you have some plans to do that and then maybe I can get in on some of the "See Amy" action. It has been about 5 years or so has it not? I'm loving the pictures of Lucy, and I hear you about the perma-snot stain on my shoulder.

By the way, I missed out on the stuffy baby stuff, but for future reference, Johnson's makes this magic concoction called Vapor Bath that you mix into their bath water. It works wonders. You can also get their Vapor Cream. I've been rubbing it on Jill's feet before I put her jammers on at night. It seems to help her breathe a bit. I'm afraid to put her mattress on an incline because she rolls around so much, I worry she'd get wedged somewhere, but Lucy is probably not that mobile yet.

I have heard about the Vick's on the feet before, but not from a reputable source. Now I think I'll try it. Do you think it would work on me??

No, I think your feet are too far from your nose! :) I rub a little bit across my collarbone and it helps me get to sleep when I'm super stuffy. Sunny told me about the vapor cream on the feet because it worked for her little Jane. So I tried it. I'm still coughing so much at night that I'm having trouble sleeping. I'd bathe in the stuff if it would get rid of this wretched three-week cold.
