One day last week it was so cold after an ice storm that no matter how hard the kids tried, they could not make a footprint in the snow. It was so funny to watch them - it just didn't look right.
Speaking of hurt, Anna once again established herself as our family's injury-prone child. She was running and tripped on the playground, going head-first into a basketball standard pole. According to her not-so-sympathetic sister, the entire playground stopped to see who had made the DONGGGGG sound ("It was so embarrassing, Mom!") Naturally Anna has a huge goose-egg on her forehead that has now faded to a lovely easter egg yellow, and two black eyes. She was very upset about the eyes and cried to Kelly, "Why do I always get the colored eyes? Black eyes, pink eyes, tired eyes..."
She's right. She has had all those things this year. I haven't pointed out yet that her black eyes are now purple and blue. Not worth it.

Wow! That's cold! Poor Anna. I was a kid just like her once. I've had all those eyes too. Fortunately, I think it makes us hardier adults! We roll with the punches a lot more easily.
James and I are laughing out loud!
