I've Given Up

I used to see kids at the store wearing a tutu over a Christmas dress, flip flops, and a football helmet and I'd think, "That poor mother has completely given up. I'll never be that way."

I should know better by now.

When it was time for Daisy's gymnastics the other day, this is what she wanted to wear. My internal debate went something like this:

"No way!"
"Why not?"
"No child of mine..."
"But she dressed herself."
"Not very well."
"The shoes match AND they're on the right feet."
"Good point."
"And, by the way, you're not doing much better. What is it, three days in those jeans now?"
"Rats."

So off we went. And she marched proudly into the YMCA in her pink cowboy boots, graciously acknowledging the smiles and comments directed at her. And I realized another "I-will-never/Yeah, right" moment.

Then I washed my jeans.
