So the big game is coming up on Sunday. For those of you not "in the know," it is THE playoff game, Packers vs. Giants. Though I have resisted as long as I could, I am definitely rooting for the Packers. It is cold and gray in Wisconsin, but people are greeting each other as warmly as if it was Christmas Eve. Churches are packed, grocery stores are well-stocked with brats and beer, and the domestic violence rate is down. Stores have signs in their front windows and on their marquees: "Go Packers Your the Best," "Its Our Year." Who wouldn't be a fan? None of our family have any green and gold just yet, but if they win, we might cave in (Why, oh why, did it have to be green and gold? There are so many other colors they could have chosen, especially when you know that they used to be called the Meat Packers. Shouldn't we have some red somewhere in there?)
Anyway, I am writing to invite anyone who would like to attend the game to stay at our house. We have a lovely guest bed and we would love to have you. Tickets are upwards of a thousand dollars right now, but if you have one, we're ready for you. But be sure to bring your warmest clothes; the temperature is supposed to be 4 degrees without wind chill, around 10-20 below with. So if it's worth the cost of a ticket and maybe a finger or toe from frostbite, come on out. Me? I'll be watching from the comfort of my couch, in my slippers and foamy cheese head hat. But I'll watch for you on TV.

I hope that Packers destroy the Giants, a feat my team, the Cowboys, couldn't pull off (stupid Jessica Simpson).
If the Packers and Pats both make it to the Superbowl (and, with respect to the Pats, by "If" I mean "when), we should have a friendly wager (LDS approved, of course).
Note: Even though I am a Cowboys fan, I do live in Massachusetts and Mindy is a Pats fan, so I feel I can root for the Pats in good conscience.
If the Seahawks had to get stomped by anyone I am glad it was the Packers...that Brett Favre...mmmmmm. So Go Meat Packers! Too bad we don't have a couple thousand to drop on that game! We'd love to be there and visit with you guys!
Shoot! I was rooting for the Packers too! I certainly was hoping to see them play the Pats as now I must be a PATs fan (you know living in Boston and all).Barb, gave me your blog address. Mine is drenewt.blogspot,com. It's the best way I know how to keep up with everyone! So good to hear about your family! -Andrea Newton
What a sad ending to the game. I was pulling for the Packers, but I guess if your QB throws multiple interceptions putting the other team in field goal position, the field goal kicker is bound to make one. I guess the Pats will have to make the Giants pay for knocking my Cowboys out of the playoffs.
Also, a note to Andrea if she checks these comments again, just because you live in Boston doesn't mean you "must be a Pats" fan. I've been in Boston for almost 8 years and am still a Cowboys fan (which has proven to be dangerous at times).
